I have heard a couple of times now that some schools are offering online physical education classes. I do not know much about this but, by the sounds of it to me it is obsurd.Other than for content knowledge, I don't know how else this could be beneficial to a student. Computer's can not make up for a person's participation in physical activity. I was wondering if anyone had more information on this, or any opinions? |

I have also heard about online physical education classes and know a couple students who were home-schooled and took them. From what they told me they had a goal of how much physical activity they were to complete during the week and they inputted their times into the computer. One benefit of this is that they didn't have a specific time they were supposed to be exercising, but rather they could fit the physical activity into their schedule wherever it fit best. I do wonder though how online teachers can know if their students are being honest. I'm sure, like traditional physical education classes, that some students have no problem being active while others probably realized they had no real accountability to exercise and made up information. |

Our school has virtual PE and it scares me to death. These kids were taking it on line but now our school has developed its own program. These kids want to mow the lawn and get PE credit, or walk the dog. There is no accountability. I think that NASPE and APHERD need to reglate this and put an end to it. VIRTUAL PE come on!!!! |

In my school district Virtual PE would never be an option as a required course. Even though I get the respect I deserve we are still considered a means to a teacher's prep and/or time for them as grade level to collaborate. We as special subject teachers also have a collaborate planning period where we can voice concerns. |
