I'm peer teaching basketball in my territory games class in a few weeks. I was wondering if it's okay to survey the students to get an idea of their skill level. I don't want anyone to be embarrased but I want to have even teams. Let me know what you think please. Thanks Kelli |

I think it would be okay to survey the students, as long as they know that the survey must be answered honestly because it will be used as part of your basketball lesson. Good luck! |

I think if at all possible you should visually survey the rest of your class before you teach. If someone else is teaching basketball skills before you have to teach your lesson, you can get a pretty good idea of the skill level of certain people. If I had to bet, I'd say that your class is probably at an average or better skill level because of the simple fact that the rest of your classmates are also physical education majors. And even if a few aren't quite up to par, they should be able to pick it up and do the best they can, being that they are phys. ed. majors and have their competitive attitude kick in so they can increase their level of playing. If this was your own classroom at a school you would be able to distinguish their skill levels in sports by watching and observing them in different activities. |
