Pedometers are fairly easy to use. I would get a one function pedometer that only takes steps. Also, they have some with alligator clips that make it a lot easier for kids that age to put on. I use the Walk4life pedometers and have been really happy with their customer service. Introductions basically should be for what pedometers are used for, what they measure and how they put them on. The first day just let them "play" with the pedometers as they will be really curious. After a few days the "new toy" feel goes away and you can use it as a teaching tool. I also usually teach the concept of responsibility with pedometers since they have to make sure to keep them safe (not broken) and return them at the end of class. |
