I am wondering if infact that technology really plays a role in the phys ed classroom. other than a heart rate monitor I feel it could slow play the class and waste time let me know what everyone thinks?

Technology can play a huge role but is limited by knowledge and funds.

Other than heart rate monitors, students can pick up using pedometers really easily. Teachers can use video cameras to record student progress and help to analyze the student's movements. This is helpful because some students "think" they are successful at all a specific skill when they are not. An I-pod can be an easy way to get music into the classroom and it can motivate students to move. These are all dependent on the funds to purchase the equipment.

In my situation, I do not have an indoor facility for my kids to exercise in during bad weather days. I have started to develop lessons based on my fitness standards from power point. This is a great way for the kids to be engaged in learning. The draw back is you have to have the content knowledge for what you are teaching but you also have to have the technological knowledge to develop the Power Point Lesson.
