Look into getting the Wii Fit system. It is an all encompassing fitness system. My brother has it and it is amazing but they are in EXTREMELY high demand right now. Check it out...http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Wii-Fit-with-Wii-Balance-Board-RVLRRFNE/sem/rpsm/oid/211097/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do?om_keycode=816287 |

I would also suggest purchasing Mario and Sonic at the Olympics. This game was designed for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, and includes events such as swimming, track and field, archery, and more. You can choose from a wide variety of characters from the old Nintendo days to represent you at the event. This game retails around $40.00 and is relatively inexpensive. It is fun to play and it really gives you a cardio workout! |

Out of all the wii games related to fitness, quite possibly the best software is the game that comes with the wii, Wii Sports. All though it is not a perfect simulator of the sports depicted it provides an excellent way to keep audiences interested. Other software to consider would include My Fitness Coach, Deca Sports, and Jillian Michaels' Fitness Ultimatum 2009. If you are looking for a more coaching or sport related game, the EA Sports line on the Wii provides excellent in depth game simulators. These games include Madden 09 (football), Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 (golf), NBA 09, NHL 09, and NASCAR 09. Also keep in mind that Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) has two games available on the Wii as well which utilize both the Wii Remotes and Dance Pads. |

I am considering buying the Wii gaming system for my K-5 building. Can anyone share what they have done with it in PE -- my classes are only 25 minutes? |

All though I have no experience with using Wii in the classroom, because I am still a student, I can see plenty of potential for Wii in the classroom. You should keep in mind that even though the Wii is a great way to keep audiences entertained while learning at the same time, it is still a video game device, software designed for it is still game related. Specific mechanics and skills are compromised for the video game experience to be maximized. Thats not to say Wii has no place in the class room, just basing entire lessons around it may be wasting time, considering a 25 minutes period. I can see that Wii could be used when weather conditions prevent outdoor activity such as tennis, so you would be able to play Wii Sports Tennis instead. Fitness classes could also be instructed with Jillian Michaels' Fitness Ultimatum 2009 or Wii Fit, all though classes like this may require multiple systems and televisions and may be for more advanced grades rather than the k-2 age range. |

I'm considering purchasing a Wii or Xavix for my elementary program (used as a fitness station or for medicals). Does anyone have experience with both? Is one more user friendly than the other? Does one have more fitness activity / game options? |

The best game I can recommend is the wii sports that comes with it. It has the fundamental movements for some sports such as baseball swings, bowling, and boxing. If done properly it can also give you a work out especially the boxing and it’s more exercise if you’re more competitive. |
