It's a great idea to use interdisciplinary lessons for any class. These lessons can be extremely useful when attempting to reach those students that just don't completely enjoy PE or just aren't as successful in it, as they would be in another subject area. By incorporating various disciplines, it also proves to the students how useful PE can be outside of the gym. You might also want to try talking to a teacher from another discipline to collaboratively come up with a lesson that incorporates both subjects simultaneously: whether you work with an English teacher for research into a particular sport that can be developed into a paper, or math/science teacher when working with pedometers. These types of lessons can be beneficial for both the kids and the teachers and they offer fresh insight into any class. |
