What is sportsmanship to you? Do you actively teach sportsmanship to your students? How? Is it part of the grade? Please share on this topic. |

Sportsmanship to me is a player being able to maintain their focus the whole game. Helping a person when the fall down. Telling them nice shot or good move when they make one. It is keeping your mouth shut when another player talks trash and being a role modal for young players. I would not recommend teaching sportsmanship but I would recommend going over good sportsmanship to your students or players and punishing them if they do not obtain good sportsmanship. |

I feel that sportsmanship is being a team player, encouraging others, taking an active role with leaderships positions, and never putting other participants down. Although it is good to have sportsmanship skills, I don't think it can be taught very easily. Mabey you could go over it with the students or players and most definatly encourage it at all times. |

As long as you teach children about the importance of respect and courtesy they should show to others, they will have great sportsmanship. There will always be a few that will not get the pioint of sportsmanship but thats only because they havent matured yet. Though you can still implant the correct behavior in their brains. |
