Fitness Gram Testing and the President’s Physical Fitness Challenge are two ways to test a student’s fitness levels. Should pysical educators send the fitness reports home to the parent’s? |

Well Meghan, we were just talking about this subject in one of my other classes. I feel it is important for the fitness reports to go home. This gives the parents a good idea of how much their children are being active. The parents may even see that their own fitness is suffering so this may encourage them to get moving as well. I believe that fitness testing is a good way to get students motivated to get moving to improve thier fitness. |

I believe that fitness grams should be sent home because that will show the parents what their student is doing in Physical Education. I think that the teacher should use the test to teach both the student and the parent. Not all parents will be happy to see what is on the fitness gram but I think that they need to be sent out. |

I believe that FITNESSGRAM reports should be sent home AT LEAST monthly to give the parents an indicator on how much effort or lack of effort there is in the students physical fitness. These reports will give the parents the heads up if their child is unhealthy and hopefully it will motivate the parents to motivate their children and enroll them in programs that involve physical fitness/activity. The report may also encourage parents to lead a more healthy and active lifestyle which would lead to a healthier and more active student. |

I feel that students results should absolutely be sent home, and signed by parents to be sure that the scores were recieved. A Physical Education teacher is with a student for a very limited amount of time when in school. I feel the best way to promote healthy lifestyles is mostly in the hands of the child's parents. Parents should be given every opprotunity to be informed of their childs fitness levels, and ways to impliment a better, healthier lifestyle for their child. |

I also think that reports should be sent home that way parents could see results and maybe do more things with the family to be active to get your child more healthy. This also shows improvement rates and parents tend to be very happy on kids improvements. |

Hello, Why not to provide the ability for the parent to log in into a web based application and consult the student fitness results / improvement reports online. Software technology capable of doing this is available (check http://www.fitstatsweb.com). Such paperless solution can both saves trees, money and ensure that fitness reports are not 'lost' by students before they reach the parents. |

I think that sending the tests home are a good way to show the parents where their child stands on a physical level. If they are upset with the results then action should be taken to attempt to make the child more physically active. If they are proud of where their child stands, they may reward them for doing so well. Letting the parents know where their child stands in their developing years is very important |

Physical Education teachers absolutely should feel they have a right to send fitness reports home just as any other teacher would/should. Knowing your childs fitness level is just as important (if not more) than knowing how your child is doing in Math or Science. I feel fitness reports should be required and sent out with report cards. |

I really like the idea of sending fitness reports home. I currently do not do this. I really have not even considered it until visiting this page. Right now I use the presidential fitness tests. My school district has us find what percentile each student is in based on age, then the percentile is turned into a percentage for a grade. The lowest percentage they can get is a 50%. This is fairest way I have found to include physical fitness into a student's grade. I really like the idea of sending it home for their parents to see. |

I think that fitness reports should be sent home. Not only for the parents to look at but, also for the students to fully understand the fitness levels. The parents can use it and see if their lifestyles are affecting their child's health. The teacher can also include how the students can improve each of their fitness components, this will allow the students to see how exactly they improve. |
