When I was in high school, I really enjoyed being in P.E. class with both males and females. That might be because I was an athlete and I liked the challenge, however, I can understand why some people woulnd't like it. I am sort of on the fence about whether or not I would want my classes that I teach to be separate or not now. Any opinions on this that could help me get on one side of the fence? |

I taught middle school co-ed PE for years and my students enjoyed the atmosphere. The curriculum was designed to meet multiple needs, there was minimal team competition and kids had the chance to select the activity they wanted for about 2/3 of the year. It was all very rigorous, but novel, creative and FUN. Tough school, but kids came because they liked what we did. |

I teach with separate genders on rosters, though we often mix in class. I like separate rosters in part b/c of locker room issues and for body fat testing, as girls are often more comfortable with a female teacher. |
