First off congradulations. I myself will be student teaching in the fall of 2009 down here in Austin, TX. When I first go out to schools I usually watch how the Physical educator interacts with the students. Now I do go out after school has been in session for a few weeks. Overall the students are going to behave rather normal. You should your guiding teacher there as well. That will be someone that they know and already listen to. Mostly I would suggest getting the studnets active and being involved. You dont have to just stand outside looking in all the time. Do something your first day that excites them and you really enjoy. As for being too strict, just relax and catch students being good. A trouble maker is gong to cause problems and you can have them sit out for a little while which should keep the rest from acting out. Otherwise catch some students who are being good and point it out. Praise works just as well as punishment. Good luck with everything hope this helps. |
