I have taught archery to 4th/5th grade the last 8 years. I have little contests during the regular class. I let each group shooting a target be a team. Or I put balloons on the target with a pin and let them try and bust a balloon (they love that). I also have two contests that are ongoing. A bullseye club that is I put on the morning announcements (the people with the most bullseyes) and then I have a class contest where the top scorers from one day ( I give them like 8 arrows each) compete in front of the school (usually about the top six kids) near the end of the year (right after our student/faculty softball game. I have ribbons for 1st place through 6th place. I take their picture and send it to the local paper. It is fun. |
