Adapted - I am going to be teaching a lesson in badminton to an adapted class. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to teach it? There are students with both physical and mental disabilities. I would like to know what I could do to modify equipment/games to better fit their needs and make it easier for them to participate? Please answer in the forum.
Coaching - Hi. I am a new tennis coach at the middle school level. One of the biggest issues I have right now is from the student's being able to play multiple sports in the same season. I was told that, according to studies, this is beneficial to the students, but since I'm not able to spend that extra time with them they loose out on alot of the techniques that the others gain. I am wondering whether or not it is really beneficial to a 6th, 7th, or 8th grader to be able to play two sports during the same season? Please share in the forum.
Elementary - Is anyone aware of any schools who have implemented "PE 4 Me"? Any feedback would be much appreciated. Cheers! Please share in the forum.
Health, Fitness & Nutrition - We have to start teaching health in our P.E. classes this year, but I only see students one day a week. I want them to move as much as possible. Any ideas on how to get kids moving and also teach health? Please share in the forum.
Interdisciplinary - As P.E. teachers we are taught not to punish students with exercise. I understand why, because they will not want to exercise on their own then. However, what else as PE teachers can we do to punish those students who disrupt class and are rude to other students? Lowering the grade may help, but in many schools gym is not counted toward the GPA, so getting a worse grade wouldn't affect the student then. What else can we do as PE teachers that will punish those rude and obnoxious students? Please share.
Secondary - Should we make guys shower after class? If so, how should we deal with that? I came from a high school and secondary program, and if you didn't shower you failed. Please share in the forum.
Technology - Are Health and PE teachers Fading Away? I am going to be a full time Health and PE teacher in a year or so. The more I get closer to graduation, the more I hear about PE becoming a class of the past. Is this true? Am I making a mistake becoming a PE teacher? What is going to happen in the future?
