I am not getting any responce to my question at the Middle School so thought I'd see if I could generate som High School responces

We have just adopted our State (Wyoming) Standards, Movement, Personal Social, Fitness plus the Health Standards. I teach at the Middle School, 6-7-8, level. I want to just give a 4-3-2-1 using our curriculum. We have a Health Teacher, and 2 PE teachers. We have quit calling it Health-PE,and now call it Wellness. What are other schools doing for grading, and how are they dealing with their Standards.

Thanks for your time

Jinx..I think the problem is that your questions is so broad, there is no easy answer. I am not quite sure what the Wyoming standards are,if you are looking for a method of assessing students in their effort to meet those standards, or if you are trying to figure out how to integrate the health and PE program under the standards in Wyoming.

I think you might be looking for a way of assessing students. For that I can direct you to "Complete Physical Education Plans for Grades 7-12." Each of fifteen activities has a beginners unit and the lessons that will get students to a standard of performance and conceptual development that meets national standards. And each beginners unit concludes with a beginners performance based rubric that is realistic and that you or your students can use. It is based on 1,2,3,4,5. There is also a written quiz that goes with the unit. Since the book is accompanied by a CD ROM, you can edit almost every lesson, rubric, chart and quiz there. That will allow you to adapt the book to your needs knowing that the basics are already there.

Hope this helps. If not, ask again and I will try my best. Meanwhile, you can get an idea of what I am talking about by going to www.humankinetics.com. There are sample pages and a sample skills rubric on line. You can purchase the book from there too.
