Elective PE Programs?

Just wondering some of your thoughts on Elective based PE programs. Do you find this type of program works better than having a set curriculum for each grade level (9-12)? All thoughts on this topic are welcomed.

Elective based PE program is beneficial to the individual need of students but the institution should have to hire teachers with their specific field of expertise. If the school can provide that kind of service the better.
