Activity: Read the following corresponding book before each activity. These activities can be done as a field day or one activity per day.

Hop on Pop: Relay
Hop on the hoppity hop up to and around the big bear sitting in the chair. Hop back to the relay line; tag off to the next player. Return to the end of the line and sit cross-legged.

The Grinch that Stole Christmas Shuttle: Relay
In shuttle relay format, have one Christmas present, one soccer ball, and one stuffed animal for each relay line. The first runner picks up the first item and runs back to put it in the toy box (crate). Then he/she runs to get the second item and runs back to put it in the crate. Then he/she runs to get the third item and runs back to put it in the grate. He tags off to the next runner. The second runner gets one item out of the crate and runs to put it back in the first position by the cone. Then he gets the second item and puts it by the second cone. Then he gets the third item and runs it back to the third cone.

The Cat in the Hat Dress up: Relay
The first runner puts on a shirt, hat, and carries a Dr. Seuss book to the giant cone and back. He/She undresses and tags off to the next runner, who then puts the clothes on and runs to the giant cone and back.

Ring the Gack: Target
The student aims a deck tennis ring at the legs of an upside down chair

Zike Bike Races from Marvin K. Mooney: Relay Race
Students ride a tricycle or big wheel around the track in relay format.

Green Eggs and Ham: Tug of War
Two teams pull against each other

Star Belly Sneetch Tag: Tag
Pass out the clothespins. One-half of them have stars on them and the other half doesn't. Students put one clothespin on each shoulder. On signal, the "Star Belly Sneetches" try to take as many clothespins as possible. Kneel down to put them back on your shoulder. Student is safe when they are kneeling. You can still capture clothespins even if you have none. On "stop", count how many star clothespins you have.
