The Thanksgiving season can be a great time to remind
students about the creation of the early communities in our country,
and to celebrate the communities that are created in our schools.
It might be a terrific time of the year to engage your students
in a cooperative activity like the one found in the link below,
and to spend a few minutes processing the activity afterward. During
your processing time, be sure to identify for students some of the
wonderful elements of their class
roles that people willingly
take in order to help the group, listening skills that allow many
ideas to be heard, and enthusiastic or encouraging statements that
support the object of the game. If those kinds of elements are missing
from your activity, this is a great time to talk about how their
presence might help to create success, or at the least, better feelings
between class members. Happy Thanksgiving!!
