Integrated Teaching Ideas |
700 Club
Students are assigned to read and review 7 sports items located in the library sports section.
If this task is accomplished, seven days are earned for which the student can
check out PE equipment for use during recess.
Story Board Chart
The chart is located in the room, and vocabulary words and fitness terms
are continuously updated on the chart.
Sports Jobs: Career to Work
Students complete an application process which requires them to solicit two letters of recommendation (from 1 adult, and 1 student).
The application includes the following items:
1. Name
2. Classroom address
3. Qualifications
4. Experience for the job
5. Why should you be hired
If the student is selected, they are able to referee and call the play-by-play of selected games. Furthermore, the student is invited to attend
a high school sporting event and invite the high school.
Following the student's visit to the high school, they will write an article about their experience. The best submitted articles are published in the school newspaper.
This activity is kicked off by having a local sports writer come and give a presentation about his career path.
